Brunei Darussalam is still in the Northeast Monsoon season where active weather condition usually occurs in the afternoon and at night until early morning.
Active weather condition is forecasted starting tomorrow (26 January 2022) until 28 January 2022 due to active
development of rain clouds over our country. Occasional showers and thundershowers are expected, with wind gust up to 45 km/h during or near heavy showers.

Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally slight up to 1.0 m throughout the week.

Negara Brunei Darussalam masih berada dalam Monsun Timur Laut di mana keadaan cuaca aktif selalunya berlaku pada waktu petang dan malam hingga ke awal pagi.

Keadaan cuaca aktif diramalkan berlaku bermula hari esok (26 Januari 2022) hingga 28 Januari 2022 disebabkan oleh pembentukan awan hujan yang aktif di kawasan negara kita. Hujan dan hujan berpetir sekali-sekala dijangka berlaku dengan angin kencang meningkat sehingga 45 kmsj semasa atau dekat hujan lebat.

Keadaan laut pada amnya berombak di paras sedikit sehingga 1.0 m sepanjang minggu ini.

The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department would like to clarify regarding a viral video circulating in the social media which shows a graphic animation of rainfall forecast that started from 20th December 2021 until 30th December 2021 for the Southeast Asian region, captured from a mobile weather application.

In this regard, we would like to inform that the animation shows forecasts of accumulation of rainfall amount for the coming period of 24 hours, 3 days, 5 days and 10 days for the Southeast Asian region.

The forecasts of accumulation rainfall amount is generally considered normal for the wet season, during Northeast Monsoon that is currently being experienced in our region.

Jabatan Kajicuaca Brunei Darussalam ingin menjelaskan mengenai video yang tular di media sosial pada masa ini yang menunjukkan satu animasi grafik jumlah turunan hujan yang bermula pada 20hb Disember 2021 sehingga 30hb Disember 2021 bagi rantau Asia Tenggara yang diambil dari salah satu aplikasi mudah alih mengenai cuaca.

Sehubungan dengan itu, Jabatan Kajicuaca Brunei Darussalam ingin memaklumkan bahawa animasi tersebut menunjukkan ramalan jumlah turunan hujan yang terkumpul bagi tempoh 24 jam, 3 hari, 5 hari dan 10 hari akan datang bagi rantau Asia Tenggara.

Ramalan turunan hujan tersebut adalah pada amnya normal dengan keadaan cuaca di musim tengkujuh, Monsun Timur Laut yang pada masa ini dialami di rantau kita.

General Weather Situation:

Negara Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Northeast Monsoon Season. Currently our country is experiencing unsettled weather conditions with occasional heavy showers or thundershowers expected especially during the evening to early morning.

As of 8.50 am local time today (15 December 2021), Typhoon ‘Rai’ has been observed over the Western Pacific Ocean (8.7°N 132.3°E), at approximately 2,047 km away from Brunei Darussalam. Typhoon ‘Rai’ is expected to continue moving northwest-wards, towards South China Sea (see Figure 1).
