Brunei Darussalam has been experiencing slight hazy conditions since 25th July until present. These hazy conditions are due to the smoke haze originating from transboundary haze originating from neighbouring countries that is blown in by the prevailing Southwesterly winds to Brunei Darussalam.

The Meteorological Observation Station at the Brunei International Airport had recorded horizontal visibility reducing between 7 km to 9 km.

During this period, the atmospheric conditions over our country tend to be quite stable with minimal thunderstorms occurrences. As of 11.00 am local time today (16th July 2023), Severe Tropical Storm (STS) TALIM was observed at coordinates 19.1°N 115.4°E, at the northern region of South China Sea, approximately 1700 km away from Brunei Darussalam. Severe Tropical Storm TALIM is forecasted to move West-Northwestwards away from our country.
