WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 2 AUGUST 2023
02 Aug 2023
General Weather Situation
Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Southwest Monsoon period, where southwesterly wind is still dominant with stable atmospheric conditions.
Brunei Darussalam has been experiencing slight hazy conditions since 25th July until present. These hazy conditions are due to the smoke haze originating from transboundary haze originating from neighbouring countries that is blown in by the prevailing Southwesterly winds to Brunei Darussalam.
The Meteorological Observation Station at the Brunei International Airport had recorded horizontal visibility reducing between 7 km to 9 km.

Brunei Darussalam is expected to continue experiencing slight hazy condition for the coming few weeks due to much less rainfall activities locally. The surface air temperature is expected to be warmer than usual, where the maximum temperature is expected to range between 33°C to 35°C.
However, active weather conditions are expected to start today, Wednesday (2 August 2023) until Saturday (5 August 2023), due to indirect influence of Typhoon Khanun which at 10.00 am local time today, its distance is approximately 12,500 km away from Brunei Darussalam.
Occasional heavy and thundery showers are expected to affect many areas of the country. Squally showers are also expected to occur at times. Wind speed may reach up to 45 km/h during or near and heavy and thundery showers.
Meanwhile over Brunei waters, generally sea condition is at slight state, with wave heights between 0.4 and 0.8 m and may increase to moderate state on Thursday and Friday up to 1.5 m especially offshore areas.
