Brunei Darussalam Monsoon Situation
Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Southwest Monsoon period, where southwesterly wind is still dominant with stable atmospheric conditions. However, active weather conditions are forecasted for the next few days due to the presence of moist atmospheric conditions over our region that enhanced the development of rain clouds.
Brunei Darussalam Weather Situation
Active weather conditions are expected to start tonight (20 July 2023) until Saturday morning (22 July 2023) with occasional heavy and thundery showers affecting many areas of the country. Squally showers are also expected to occur at times. Wind speed may reach up to 60 km/h during or near and heavy thundershowers.
Meanwhile over Brunei waters, generally sea condition is at moderate to rough state, with wave heights reaching up to 3.0 m especially at offshore.
Our Advice
Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather condition. There is risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during continuous heavy rain and also during high tide. Risk of landslide and fallen trees are also possible during heavy showers and gusty condition.
Public, road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take necessary actions to ensure safety.
