General Situation:
Negara Brunei Darussalam is now approaching the end of the Southwest Monsoon. Currently our country is still experiencing unsettled weather conditions with occasional gusty showers that associated with the development of cyclonic systems, such as tropical storms and typhoons, over the Western Pacific Ocean and South China Sea.
As of 2.00pm local time today, Typhoon ‘Saudel’ was observed at the Northern part of South China Sea (17.0°N 115.8°E), at approximately 1,324km away from Brunei Darussalam. Typhoon ‘Saudel’ is expected to continue moving west-wards, further away from our country.

Negara Brunei Darussalam sedang menghampiri penghujung Monsun Barat Daya. Pada masa ini, Negara kita masih mengalami keadaan cuaca yang tidak menentu dengan sekali sekala berlaku hujan lebat berserta angin kencang yang disebabkan oleh pembentukkan sistem siklon seperti ribut tropika dan taufan di kawasan Barat Lautan Pasifik dan kawasan Laut China Selatan.

Pada pukul 2.00 petang waktu tempatan hari ini, Taufan ‘Saudel’ berada di kawasan Utara Laut China Selatan (17.0°N 115.8°E) iaitu sekitar 1,324km jauh dari Negara Brunei Darussalam. Taufan ‘Saudel’ diramal akan bergerak ke arah Barat, menjauhi Negara kita.

Our country therefore, would still tend to experience unsettled weather conditions with occasional gusty thunderstorms that may coincides with development of cyclonic systems, such as tropical storms and typhoons, over the Western Pacific Ocean and South China Sea.

Brunei Darussalam Situation For The Next Few Days:
Unsettled weather condition is expected in the next few days until the middle of next week. Heavy showers or thundershowers are likely to occur with occasional strong winds with wind gust that may reach up to 50 km/h.

Sea state is expected to be Moderate to Rough, of up to 2.5 meters.

Keadaan cuaca yang tidak menentu dijangka berlaku selama beberapa hari sehingga ke pertengahan minggu hadapan. Hujan lebat dan berpetir dan kadang kala disertai angin kencang djangka berlaku dengan kelajuan angin mencapai sehingga 50 kmsj.

Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department would like to clarify regarding the viral information on Typhoon ‘Mangkut’ that is being spread in the social media. In that regard, we would like to notify that currently there is no Typhoon identified across our region. The Typhoon ‘Mangkut’ that has been viraled in the sosial media had actually occurred in September 2018.

However, there is a Tropical Storm named ‘Noul’ currently located at 13.0°N 118.5°E (as of 2.00 am local time on 16 September 2020) which is approximately 933 km from Brunei Darussalam and is expected to move to the northern part of South China Sea, away from Brunei Darussalam.

This Tropical Storm is expected to indirectly influence our weather situation causing unsettled weather...
