WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 22nd OCTOBER 2020

General Situation:
Negara Brunei Darussalam is now approaching the end of the Southwest Monsoon. Currently our country is still experiencing unsettled weather conditions with occasional gusty showers that associated with the development of cyclonic systems, such as tropical storms and typhoons, over the Western Pacific Ocean and South China Sea.
As of 2.00pm local time today, Typhoon ‘Saudel’ was observed at the Northern part of South China Sea (17.0°N 115.8°E), at approximately 1,324km away from Brunei Darussalam. Typhoon ‘Saudel’ is expected to continue moving west-wards, further away from our country.

Brunei Darussalam Situation For The Next Few Days:
Unsettled weather condition is expected until this weekend especially over the sea areas. Heavy showers with occasional strong winds are expected with wind gust may reach up to 50 km/h.

Meanwhile, sea state over Brunei waters is Moderate to Rough, of up to 2.0 meters.

Our Advice:
Members of the public are advised to take note of the risk of flash floods especially at low lying and flood prone areas during heavy showers or thundershowers as well as the risk of falling trees during gusty condition.

Public, road users and fisherman are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take precaution and any necessary actions to ensure safety.
