Brunei Darussalam is now entering Inter-Monsoon period this early October, where local wind effects will play an important role in governing our daily weather.

During Inter-Monsoon season, the country normally experiences fair weather in the morning and isolated coastal showers occur around midday. Meanwhile, showers and thunderstorms occur over the inland during the afternoon, spreading and affecting coastal and sea areas at night, and may persist to early morning of the following day.

Semasa Monsun Peralihan, negara kita pada lazimnya mengalami keadaan cuaca cerah pada waktu pagi dan hujan berasingan berlaku di kawasan pesisiran sekitar tengahari. Manakala, hujan dan ribut petir berlaku di kawasan pedalaman pada sebelah petang dan merebak serta menjejaskan kawasan pesisiran dan perairan negara pada waktu malam, dan kadangkala berlanjutan sehingga awal pagi keesokan harinya.

Brunei Darussalam will enter inter-monsoon period by early October which is the transition period after the Southwest Monsoon and before entering the Northeast Monsoon. The inter-monsoon period is expected to last until the end of November 2022.

During this period, local wind effects will play an important role in governing our daily weather. Our climatological record shows that October and November are the months with more frequent thunderstorms activities and receive the highest amount of rainfall and highest number of rain days.

Negara Brunei Darussalam akan mula memasuki Monsun Peralihan pada awal Oktober ini iaitu selepas Monsun Barat Daya dan sebelum memasuki Monsun Timur Laut. Monsun Peralihan ini dijangka berterusan sehingga hujung bulan November 2022.

Brunei Darussalam is currently towards the end of Southwest Monsoon period, where southwesterly wind surge is still dominant with stable atmospheric condition.

As of 5.00 am local time today (24th September 2022), Tropical Storm Noru was observed at coordinates 16.5°N 128.4°E, at the East of the Philippines Sea, approximately 2000 km away from Brunei Darussalam (Figure 1).

Tropical Storm Noru is forecasted to move westwards to South China Sea and expected to be upgraded to Typhoon in the next few days.
