WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM

1. General Weather Situation
Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Southwest Monsoon which will typically persist until September.

During Southwest Monsoon, atmospheric conditions over our country tend to be quite stable with minimal thunderstorms occurrences compared to during the inter-monsoon period. The wind condition generally will be
blowing from the Southwest direction during this period.

2. Brunei Darussalam Weather Forecast
Weather conditions are forecasted to be active in the next few days starting tomorrow, Thursday (1 August 2024) until Tuesday (6 August 2024), with occasional heavy and thundery showers expected to affect many areas of the country, especially in the afternoon and at night. Wind speed may reach up to 45 km/h during or near heavy thundershowers.

Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally at slight, between 0.3-0.7 meters.

3. Our Advice
Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather condition. There is a high risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during continuous heavy rain and also during high tide. Risk of landslide and fallen trees are also possible during heavy showers and gusty condition.

Public, road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take necessary actions to ensure safety.
