General Weather Situation
Brunei Darussalam is currently in the inter-monsoon period.
During this period, the weather situation of our country is influenced by local wind effect, usually with showers or thundershowers over the inland areas in the afternoon, affecting the coastal and sea areas at night, and at times may prolong to early morning of the following day.
Weather Forecast
Weather condition for Brunei Darussalam is forecasted to be active in the next few days. This is due to the convergence of two different wind directions occurring over our region, resulting atmospheric condition to be moist and thus enhance the development of rain clouds.
Weather condition is active starting today, Wednesday (15th May 2024) until Sunday (19th May 2024), with occasional heavy and thundery showers expected to occur, affecting many areas of the country. Wind speed may reach up to 45 km/h during heavy or thundery showers.
Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally at slight, with wave height between 0.3 and 0.6 meters.
Our Advice
Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather condition. There is risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during continuous heavy rain and also during high tide. Risk of landslide and fallen trees are also possible during heavy showers and gusty condition.
Public, road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take necessary actions to ensure safety.
