General Weather Situation
Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Southwest Monsoon period, where southwesterly wind is still dominant with stable atmospheric conditions. However, active weather conditions are still forecasted for the next few days due to the presence of moist atmospheric conditions over our region that enhanced the development of rain clouds.
Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Observation Station, at the Brunei International Airport has recorded a total rainfall amount of 148.3 mm since 1st September 2023. This amount has reached more than half of the normal value of rainfall for September (1991-2020) which is 235.1 mm.
Brunei Darussalam Weather Forecast
Active weather conditions are expected to persist until Tuesday (12 September 2023) with occasional heavy thundershowers affecting many areas of the country. Wind speed may reach up to 45 km/h during or near heavy thundershowers.
Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally at slight, between 0.4 and 0.8 meters.

Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather condition. There is a high risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during continuous heavy rain and also during high tide. Risk of landslide and fallen trees are also possible during heavy showers and gusty condition. Rough sea condition is dangerous to small boat operations, sea recreational activities and sports.
