WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 4 JULY 2023

Brunei Darussalam Monsoon Situation
Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Southwest Monsoon period, where southwesterly wind is still dominant with stable atmospheric conditions. However, active weather conditions are still forecasted for the next few days due to the moist atmospheric conditions that enhanced the development of rain clouds.

Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department’s Meteorological Observation Station, at the Brunei International Airport had recorded a total rainfall amount of 161.1 mm since 1st July 2023. This amount has exceeded more than half of the normal value of rainfall for July which is 241.8 mm.

Brunei Darussalam Weather Situation
Active weather conditions are expected to start tomorrow, Wednesday (5 July 2023) until Sunday (9 July 2023) with occasional heavy and thundery showers affecting many areas of the country. Wind speed may reach up to 45 km/h during or near heavy thundershowers.

Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally at slight, between 0.3 and 0.8 meters.

Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather condition. There is risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during continuous heavy rain and also during high tide. Risk of landslide and fallen trees are also possible during heavy showers and gusty condition.

Public, road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take necessary actions to ensure safety.
