WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 31ST AUGUST 2022

1. General Situation:

Brunei Darussalam is currently still in the Southwest Monsoon period where normally we would experience generally fair weather in the morning and showers in the afternoon.

As of 1.00 pm local time today (31st August 2022), Typhoon Hinnamnor was observed at 25.6°N 129.4°E, at the sea area to the Northeast of the Philippines, approximately 2,817 km away from Brunei Darussalam

and one Tropical Depression was also observed at 20.8°N 132.2°E, at the sea area to the Northeast of the Philippines, approximately 2,615 km away from Brunei Darussalam

Typhoon Hinnamnor is forecasted to move Westwards whereas Tropical Depression is forecasted to move North-westwards, and both systems are expected to move further away from our country.

3. Our Advice:

Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather condition. There is risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during heavy rain and also during high tide. Risk of landslide and falling trees are also possible during heavy showers and gusty condition.

Public, road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take necessary actions to ensure safety.
