Brunei Darussalam Monsoon Situation

Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Southwest Monsoon period, where southwesterly wind is likely to be more dominant with stable atmospheric conditions.

However, we had been experiencing active weather conditions in the past few days due to the influence of La Nina Phenomena over our region, which has resulted in the change of wind direction to variable winds, and moist atmospheric conditions that cause the development of active rain clouds.

Brunei Darussalam Weather Situation

Unsettled weather conditions are forecasted to persist until the end of this week with occasional showers or thundershowers, especially at night until early morning. Showers or thundershowers are expected to be heavy and gusty at times with wind gust may reach up to 40 km/h.

Over Brunei waters, sea state is generally slight, below 0.6 m.

Our Advice:

Members of the public are advised to take precautionary actions with respect to the forecasted active weather condition. There is risk of flash floods especially at low-lying and flood prone areas as well as near the river banks during continuous heavy rain that may last for more than 1 hour and also during high tide. Risk of landslide and falling trees are also possible during heavy showers and gusty condition.

Public, road users and fishermen are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take necessary actions to ensure safety.
