PRESS RELEASE RECITATION OF SURAH YASIN AND TAHLIL CEREMONY IN CONJUNCTION WITH WORLD METEOROLOGICAL DAY 2022

Tuesday, 22 Mac 2022 – Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department held the Recitation of Surah Yasin and Tahlil ceremony virtually this afternoon in conjunction with World Meteorological Day 2022. The ceremony began with a mass recitation of Surah Yasin and Tahlil, followed by Doa Selamat dan also prayers to be hindered from Covid-19.
Present virtually at the ceremony was the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Awang Mohammad Yusof.
As a member of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), our country held this ceremony to commemorate March 23, which is the date of the establishment of this world scientific body under United Nations in 1950. In addition, this historic day is also celebrated to appreciate the important contributions made by the National Meteorological and Hydrological Services around the world in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. This year the theme of the celebration is ‘Early Warning and Early Action’.
Also present virtually were the Permanent Secretary, Deputy Secretary (Infocommunications) and Acting Deputy Secretary (Transportation), Director of Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department as chair of event, heads of executives, heads of departments as well as senior officials and staff from the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, departments and authorities under it.
