WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 09 NOVEMBER 2020

General Situation:
The development of cyclonic system remains active over the Western Part of Pacific Ocean and South China Sea areas.
As of 8.00 am local time today, Tropical Storm ‘Etau’ was observed at 12.9°N 113.4°E, Northern South China Sea, at 888 km away from Brunei Darussalam. Tropical Storm ‘Etau’ is expected to continue moving west-wards, further away from our country.
Brunei Darussalam Weather Situation:
Weather condition over Brunei Darussalam will be indirectly influenced by Tropical Storm ‘Etau’, until Wednesday, 11 November 2020. Thundershowers with occasionally gusty wind are expected to occur, mostly at sea, and spread to land areas at times. Wind speed may reach up to 45 km/h near thundershowers.
Sea state over Brunei waters is expected to be moderate reaching heights of up to 1.5 meters.
Our Advice:
Members of the public are advised to take note of the risk of flash floods especially at low lying and flood prone areas during heavy showers or thundershowers as well as the risk of falling trees during gusty condition.
Public, road users and fisherman are advised to always be up to date with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, and to take precaution and any necessary actions to ensure safety.
