WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 20 FEBRUARY 2020
20 Feb 2020
Brunei Darussalam is currently in the second phase of the Northeast Monsoon period which is expected to last until
end of March 2020. Based on the climatology of Brunei Darussalam, the months of February and March have the lowest
number of rainy days and amount of recorded rainfall as compared to the other months of the year.
During this period, our country would normally experience hot and dry weather conditions whereby lesser rainfall
activities are expected due to stable atmospheric conditions.
Potential weather impacts during the second half of the Northeast Monsoon are hot during the day and at times
maximum air temperature increases between 33 to 35 degrees Celcius, and the dry condition may also cause slight haze.
General forecast for the country until end of this week will be breezy condition especially at sea. The breezy condition
is also expected to cause wave height to increase up to rough state of 3.0 meters. Wind gust may reach up to 40-50 km/h.
Strong winds and rough sea conditions are dangerous especially to small crafts and sea recreational activities
and sports at sea.
The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department will continue to monitor the weather conditions and will issue
weather advisory or warnings if necessary. We would also like to advise the public to keep updated with the latest
