1. General Situation:
Brunei Darussalam is in the Intermonsoon Season which is the transition period between the Southwest Monsoon to the Northeast Monsoon, and will normally last until the end of November. Today, Typhoon 'MITAG' was observed at 27.05°N 122.30°E over the Northwest Pacific Ocean as of 5:45 am local time, moving Northwards further away from our country. Typhoon 'MITAG' will not affect the weather of our country.

2. Brunei Weather Situation:
During the intermonsoon period, the local wind effects with strength slight to moderate, play an important role in governing our daily weather such as development of thunderstorm clouds around the country. Weather is typically hot during the daytime while thunderstorm occurrences are likely at the inland area in the afternoon and propagating out to the coastal and sea areas during late night to early morning. Based on our climatological records, the frequency of thunderstorms occurrences is high during the inter-monsoon period.

While on 30th September 2019, Brunei International Airport Meteorological Observation Station has recorded a total rainfall of 254mm which is nearly reaching the total average rainfall of one month for September that is 260.5 mm, causing flash flood in several areas in Brunei Darussalam.
For this evening, thunderstorms are expected to affect most areas in all districts with risk of flash floods over the low lying and flood prone areas. Meanwhile, the sea state of Brunei waters is expected to be below 1.0 meters throughout the week.
