WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 21 MARCH 2019

21 Mar 2019

Located near the equator, Brunei Darussalam experiences the Equinox event twice a year, i.e. about the 20th March and 23rd September.

Equinox is an astronomical event in which the sun passes exactly above the equatorial line, resulting in an equal length of day and night across the globe. During the occurrence of Equinox, there is a possibility of slight increase in surface air temperature, however, the increase is not significant enough to cause heat wave.

Based on the temperature data observed by the BDMD, there has been no record of significant increase in surface air temperature during the Equinox event.

We shall continue to monitor the weather conditions and will issue weather advisory or warnings if necessary.
