WEATHER UPDATE FOR BRUNEI DARUSSALAM 6 MARCH 2019
06 Mar 2019
Brunei Darussalam is currently still in the second phase of the Northeast Monsoon period. Based on Brunei Darussalam's climatology, March is known to be the driest month as compared to the other months, with the lowest amount of recorded rainfall.
Stable atmospheric conditions are expected to persist until the end of March, with minimal rainfall activity. The country is also expected to experience breezy conditions at times when the northeasterly winds strengthen over the region. During this relatively drier period, isolated showers or thundery showers can still possibly occur around the country especially during the early morning and evening.
Potential weather impacts during the second half of the Northeast Monsoon are:
• Drier conditions due to reduce rainfall activity;
• Tendency for mist and fog formations during the early morning hours which will result in reduction of horizontal visibility;
• Feeling hot during the day due to the increase in air temperature exceeding 34 ℃;
• Prolonged dry period may increase the risks of bush or forest fires.
We shall continue to monitor the weather conditions and will issue weather advisory or warnings if necessary.
